# How to read TraderOS MCP results

> How to read the source, as-of time, session basis, volume scope and GEX snapshot that come with every TraderOS MCP result, so the numbers your assistant quotes are right.

Every TraderOS result says where a number came from and when. If your assistant gives you a number without them, ask it to **show the source, the time and the session**.

## The fields to look for

| What you see | What it means |
| - | - |
| **as of** and **age** | When the data was captured and how old it is now. Quote both. |
| **freshness** | Whether the reading is live, delayed, a settled previous-day reading or stale. A settled reading is the previous session's positioning, not live. |
| **basis** or **window** | Which session or bar a number was cut from. See below. |
| **source** | Where the number came from, for example our calculation from the options chain. |

## Futures: Globex session or cash session

A future's day can be read two ways. The Globex session runs 18:00 ET to 17:00 ET and carries the next trade date. The cash session is the regular 09:30 to 16:00 ET window of the equity-index futures.

The two give different highs, lows and closes. For example, a Nasdaq future's Globex close and its cash-session close for the same date are not the same number. A level row carries the Globex number and, beside it, the cash-session number with its window. A good answer names which one it quotes. See [Sessions](https://docs.traderos.ai/data/sessions.md).

## Quotes

`market_quote` is the newest snapshot or the newest one-minute bar, not a live tick. It says what the price is (`price_basis`) and how old it is. When no snapshot exists it falls back to the latest daily close and says so.

## Volume on stocks

Daily volume on a stock comes from one data feed, not the consolidated tape, so it is a fraction of the stock's total volume. Do not quote it as total volume. Use it to compare one day with another, or call it feed volume. The result says so in its volume scope.

## GEX snapshots

* Futures GEX is calculated every 15 minutes from the options chain, which arrives 20 to 35 minutes behind real time, so a snapshot is usually 35 to 60 minutes old when read. Stock GEX refreshes about every 5 minutes.
* Walls and key levels are picked when the snapshot is taken, from the strikes on each side of the price at that moment. They do not follow the live price. When the live price has moved past a level, the level is marked as crossed.
* Compare two tickers' levels only after stating each snapshot's time. A difference in snapshot is a difference in timing, not a difference in the markets.
* The gamma flip is where total dealer gamma crosses zero. Price near the flip means the regime is fragile; the result gives the distance.

## Ask for the evidence

A prompt that works well with any assistant:

> Use TraderOS. For every number, state the source, the as-of time and age, and the session it covers.
