# TraderOS MCP troubleshooting and FAQ

> Fix a TraderOS MCP connection that will not sign in, shows no tools, returns stale data or asks for credits, and find answers to common MCP questions.

## The connector will not connect

Check that the address is exactly `https://mcp.traderos.ai/mcp`, or the one **MCP Access** shows. Remove the connector, add it again and sign in once more. Sign in with the same account you use in TraderOS.

## My assistant shows no TraderOS tools

Sign-in may not have finished. Open your assistant's connector or MCP settings, reconnect TraderOS, and approve read access. Start a new chat after reconnecting, because some assistants load tools only when a chat begins.

## The numbers look old

Read the as-of time and age on the result. Futures GEX is calculated every 15 minutes and is usually 35 to 60 minutes old when read. A settled reading is the previous session's positioning. See [How to read MCP results](https://docs.traderos.ai/mcp/read-the-results.md). Ask your assistant to quote the as-of time with every number.

## Two tools gave different numbers

Check the session each one covers. A future's Globex session and its cash session differ, and the result names which one it is. Check the snapshot times too. Ask your assistant to state the session and time for both. If two answers for the same session and time still differ, [tell us from the app](https://docs.traderos.ai/troubleshooting.md) with the question and the answers.

## A ticker is missing

Ask for coverage first: "What does TraderOS hold for this ticker?" An unknown ticker starts a request to add it; it is not an error.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the TraderOS MCP server?

It is a connection that lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read TraderOS market data and your own results through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), using your TraderOS account.

### What is the TraderOS MCP address?

`https://mcp.traderos.ai/mcp`. **MCP Access** in TraderOS shows it too.

### Is the connection read-only?

It reads market data and your results. It cannot place orders or change your account. It cannot run reports. It can ask for a backtest, which runs only after you approve the card in TraderOS.

### Does MCP use my credits?

Yes. The connection uses your own account and your own credits. **MCP Access** shows your connection.

### Which assistants work with TraderOS?

Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. See [Claude](https://docs.traderos.ai/mcp/connect-claude.md), [ChatGPT](https://docs.traderos.ai/mcp/connect-chatgpt.md) and [Cursor and VS Code](https://docs.traderos.ai/mcp/connect-cursor-vscode.md).

### Can my assistant start a backtest?

Your assistant can ask for one. Nothing runs or is charged until you approve the card in TraderOS, where the cost is shown. Over MCP it then reads the status, results and trades.

### Can I use TraderOS from a script, without an assistant?

Yes, with an API key made in **Settings**, **API Keys**. A script sends the key to `https://api.traderos.ai/api/v1/harness/mcp` and gets the same answers your assistant gets. See [Use TraderOS from a script with an API key](https://docs.traderos.ai/mcp/api-keys.md).

### How do I disconnect an assistant?

Remove the TraderOS connector in the assistant's settings.
