The flow

1

Describe the setup

Say it the way you would to a colleague: the market, the entry, the exit, the stop, the window and the size.
2

Read the specification

The Agent turns your words into an explicit specification and shows it. Anything it had to assume is listed, so you can correct it before running.
3

Run the backtest

A backtest is priced in credits and the price is shown before it runs.
4

See where it fails

The result covers trades, equity, drawdown and the days or conditions where the setup does poorly.
5

Change one thing at a time

Tighten a rule, add a filter or change the window, and compare. Check the result out of sample before you trust it.

What the rules can say

Entry and exit conditions on price, time and indicators, stops and targets (including percent of capital risked per trade), a limit on trades per day, session windows and “stay out” windows, and exits written inside the entry sentence such as “sell the close”.

Honesty built in

  • A backtest result names the data window it used and the number of trades.
  • A rule the engine cannot apply exactly is reported, not silently skipped.
  • Past results describe the past. They are not a forecast.
