There are four ways to get a trade in. On a new account, the Get your trades in screen offers them side by side.

Log a trade by hand

Choose Log Trade. It takes four steps: the type of trade, the instrument, the executions, and a review before you save.
  • Types. Equities and ETFs (priced per share), options (single contracts and multi-leg spreads, priced per contract) and futures (priced in points with a fixed multiplier).
  • Futures products. You pick the product first, then the exact contract that was trading on your trade date. As of 2026-11-04 the list has 28 products: equity index, rates, energy, metals, grains, currencies and volatility. Each carries its exchange, point value and tick size.
  • Prices sit on the tick. A futures price you enter must be a multiple of the product’s tick size, for example 0.25 on ES.
  • Position status. Mark the trade Open, Partially closed or Closed. Add each opening and closing fill. Options also take events such as exercise or assignment.
  • Stop price (optional). Enter where your stop was when you entered. R is calculated from it. Without it, the trade shows Risk missing and has no R.
  • Confirm. You tick I confirm this is what happened before Save trade.
  • Journal this trade. On the last step you can link a strategy, mark how it felt, add a setup label and write a note.
If you leave in the middle, the draft is kept in your browser, and the page offers to continue it.

Import a file

Choose Import file to bring in trades from a CSV, TSV or Excel (.xlsx) file of up to 25 MB.
  1. Choose the file and the Journal account. Rows without a time zone are read as America/New_York unless you choose another.
  2. Map columns and save. Match each file column to a Journal field. If a column cannot be placed, you answer before anything is saved. Choose Remember for your platform to reuse the mapping next time.
  3. Review the preview. Rows left out, rows that failed and times that need a choice are listed. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
  4. Undo if it is wrong. You can undo a whole import afterwards. Notes and reviews on those trades are removed with them. Linked Notebook notes stay.
What to know about how a file is read:
  • Times without seconds are full times. A fill time such as 2026-10-27 10:20, 10/27/2026 10:20 or 10:20 AM is read as that minute of that day. Only a cell with a date and no time is treated as date-only.
  • Futures prices snap to the tick. A futures fill price within a quarter of a tick of a tick is rounded to the tick, for example 7722.53968254 on ES reads 7722.5. A price in between ticks, such as an average of several fills, is kept as written and the row’s note says so. Prices of stocks, currencies and everything else are never rounded.
  • Long files are read in two parts. TraderOS reads up to 20,000 rows of a file (as of 2026-11-04). If yours has more, the import reads the first 20,000, tells you how many rows it read out of how many the file has, and asks you to upload the rest (the rows after row 20,000, with the header line) as a second file.
  • Importing a file again is safe. Trades that are already in your Journal are recognised as duplicates, including trades imported earlier from the same file when only the day of the fill was known.

Dictate a trade

On the Day page, type a note or tap the microphone and say it. If you describe a trade, the Journal reads what you said and shows a Trade draft for you to check.
  • Edit the fields, choose a strategy, mark how it felt, then choose Save trade.
  • A draft does not count in the day’s numbers, the list or the calendar until you save it.
  • If a field is missing, the card says what to add before you can save. If the trade matches one already in your log, it says so.
  • Choose Save as note only or Discard if you do not want a trade.

Connect a broker

Choose Connect a broker to sync a brokerage account. The connection is read-only: TraderOS can read your positions and trades, and it cannot place orders or move money.
  • Positions show right away. Trades arrive after the overnight sync, with the fees and times your broker recorded.
  • You can Sync now, Pause, Resume or Disconnect, and set the history start, time zone and Journal account.
  • Synced trades can wait in Trades to review for you to check before they are imported.
  • Brokers that cannot sync show Import file or Coming soon instead of Connect. Use a file import or log by hand for those.

Record a setup you passed on

A setup you chose to skip is a decision, not a trade. Choose Log a passed setup on the Day page or in a strategy, then record:
  • The account and, for a past day, the time you passed.
  • Why you passed. Any reason counts, even two words.
  • What would have changed your mind.
  • Whether you followed your plan.
  • An optional setup label, which the monthly scorecard counts it under.
Passed setups are kept apart from your trades. They are not in profit and loss or win rate.
